WHAT IS A GICLEE?
"Gilcée" is a French word meaning spray, or squirt. If you want to pronounce it correctly, then drink a glass of wine and say this: zhe-clay. "Giclee" is actually an American marketing term that has been in use since the mid 1990's because "ink jet" just did not have the "ring" that the printing industry needed to encourage consumers to invest in this type of printed art.  The two main characteristics that art-print buyers look for are achievability and true replication of the original art. That replication process starts with the image capture and color correction process, which puts it beyond the scope of the average do-it-yourself consumer.

GICLÉE FINE ART CANVAS & FINE ART PAPER

The giclee and fine art paper prints I have had made are tested and certified by the Fine Art Trade Guild. The winner in ISO-13660 comparative testing for overall print performance.

The canvas media used exceeds the international archival standards set forth by the Fine Art Trade Guild for pH and light-fastness. The Fine Art Trade Guild established particular archival standards to protect the interests and confidence of consumers who are purchasing your archival-grade giclee prints. Breathing Color's Brilliance Chromata™ White Canvas is used. This is a textured, 20.5 mil, Bright White, consistent Poly Cotton Blend Matte Canvas using an acid-free, neutral pH coating.

The fine art paper media is also the overall champion of the rigorous ISO-13660 test which focuses on the media's ability to produce density, image detail, tonal range, color gamut and several other critical media qualities. Elegance™ velvet is a 310 g/sm mould made Fine Art Paper with a water-resistant vellum surface. It is made from 100% cotton fiber and is acid and lignin free.
